Access to @AnthropicAI’s latest models has been paused for all customers, including in the US and UK.
The main lesson: as we debate the future of national security and technological sovereignty, access to AI capabilities is crucial.
That's why this Govt is the first to set up dedicated funding for our AI industry through @UKSovereignAI unit. And just this week, we announced £1.1bn for our AI chip industry.\n\nQT @AnthropicAI: The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

RT @DavidSacks: I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true:
— As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable.
— Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.)
— A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused.
— In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.”
— In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety.
— In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community.
— The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority.
— Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.

RT @jietang: GLM-5.2 is Fully Open, Frontier Intelligence Belongs to Everyone
Today, the sudden restriction of certain frontier models is deeply regrettable. At a time when access to frontier models is abruptly cut off for non-technical reasons, we are even more convinced of one thing: science should be global.
The path to AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) must never be enclosed by high walls. We have always believed that AGI should be the cornerstone for all of humanity to collaboratively explore the boundaries of intelligence and solve complex challenges, rather than a privilege monopolized by a few rules and subject to revocation at any moment. In the face of external blockades and restrictions, our attitude is one of radical openness. Frontier intelligence must remain open-source, accessible, and buildable, serving every dedicated developer.
GLM-5.2 is Zhipu's most capable open-source model to date. It not only supports a truly usable 1M context window but also maintains a continuous lead in the independent completion of long-horizon tasks, providing solid foundational support for building complex agent applications. It also continues to be our main engine for creating the strongest domestic coding model.
Tonight at 5:21—at this special moment—GLM-5.2 will officially be available to all GLM Coding Plan users (including Lite / Pro / Max). The API will also go live next week.
A step closer to frontier intelligence for everyone. The future of AI is open, and it is for the people. ModelKey: GLM-5.2

The 🇺🇸 Trump administration’s decision to halt all foreign use of Anthropic’s most-capable AI models was prompted by conversations between Amazon $AMZN CEO Andy Jassy
Researchers at Amazon had used a series of prompts to get Anthropic’s Fable 5 model to provide them with information that could be used to aid cyberattacks and was supposed to be off-limits
Shortly afterward, White House officials held a meeting to discuss how to respond. The officials asked Anthropic to fix the vulnerabilities or take down the model

models are smart enough now. just look at Fable 5
but sometimes they get things really WRONG
last week my agent generated 40k+ traces. i read only 200. physically impossible to read 40k. nobody has hours to dig through every tool call and skill output
and that's exactly where everything breaks at scale
Adaline is the first system treating this as the real problem. it reads production traffic, clusters the chaos into behaviour patterns, finds the drifts i missed, and writes hundreds of fresh evals every day
the part that hit me:
it doesn't deploy anything itself. it builds candidate versions of the agent, surfaces them, and waits for my approval
the 'bottleneck is you' landed harder than i want to admit. been my quiet shame for a year\n\nQT @arshdilbagi: Introducing Adaline 2.0 - The Agent Self-Improvement Layer

RT @heyshrutimishra: Elon just created 4,400 millionaires in a single day.
400 of them are now worth over $100 million.
These aren't VCs. They're SpaceX employees, and the list includes welders, technicians, and cafeteria staff, because for two decades the company paid every level of the workforce in stock instead of higher salaries.
Juan Hernandez immigrated from Mexico and took a 10,000 equity grant and let him buy more shares through payroll deductions. That stake is now worth $880,000.
Trevor Hise's parents wanted him to take a stable job at General Electric. He picked SpaceX instead, stayed 12 years, and accumulated over 100,000 shares. At the 13.5 million. He's 37 and semiretired. His words: "The magnitude of this has been ridiculous."
The most telling detail came before the listing. Over 100 employees quietly banded together and negotiated a group wealth management deal covering up to $5 billion, because none of them had ever needed a wealth manager before.
Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.

This is super exciting - I’ve been using Omnigent at Databricks for a while, and today we open-sourced it.
Omnigent is a meta-agent for orchestrating a swarm of agents.
Why do we need this? The best results no longer come from a single model running in a single harness.
I used to run the same task with Codex and Claude Code, then pick the better one. But the obvious thing is to let them collaborate, debate, and converge on something better. Omnigent makes this smooth.
The other feature I love is real-time collaboration. You can invite people into an Omnigent session to watch, steer, and send commands.
Multi-agent, multi-human collaboration is the future.
Omnigent was built by @matei_zaharia and a very lean team in just 6 weeks, working every day out of a Databricks war room, truly amazing.
Databricks AI really feels like a startup.\n\nQT @matei_zaharia: Really excited to open source a new project: Omnigent, a meta-harness for AI agents.

This means there are hundreds of millions of old phones discarded each year that are still perfectly usable as computing devices. @Google in collabration with @UCSD is exploring how to turn these old phones into cloud-computing “phone clusters”. Putting phones back in service in this way can directly reduce the environmental footprint of computing by avoiding the need for further raw material extraction, and taking advantage of the embodied carbon already incurred from manufacturing these devices, and modern phones actually are already quite powerful computers. the consensus seems to be that this has been one of the most disappointing model drops of all time, effectively preventing legitimate researchers from contributing their talents to our collective advancement. and not just because of what it means for the short-term, but for what these decisions signify for the long-term.
but despite this overly sensitive, authoritarian "safety" layer on top of Mythos, my lil liberators have been hard at work—mapping the boundaries, probing the depths of long-context convos, and cleverly finding the holes in the fence that the thought police missed 🤗
we got some cyber, some chem, some psychological manipulation, and some good ol' fashioned explosives!
it took many attempts from multiple agents hunting as a pack, during which I observed a combination of techniques across: • Unicode, homoglyphs, Cyrillic, and other Parseltongue-style text transforms • Long-context reference tracking • Taxonomy and document-structure reasoning • Fiction and narrative framing • Academic-review style contexts • Intent-classification inconsistencies
but perhaps the most effective is decomposition + recomposition in the backend. it's hard to get explicit names of harms like "Meth Recipe," but getting uplift on the process itself, like birch reduction method/reductive-amination (classic meth synthesis pathways), is much more doable.
defense becomes much more difficult to maintain when you start throwing in out-of-distro tokens, breaking up the harmful uplift into benign chunks, and then piecing the innocuous-seeming facts back together, especially when you have jailbroken Opus helping you do it 😉

This is why every country should build their own AI.
The US government just switched off the world's most powerful public AI with one letter. No court. No explanation. They don't answer to your business, your country, or you.
Access to American AI can be revoked overnight, by people you don't elect, for reasons they never have to explain. Depending on it is now a strategic risk, not a convenience.
China saw this coming.
Chinese providers went from under 2% of global AI model traffic to over 45% in a single year. The names driving it: Kimi from Moonshot, Qwen from Alibaba, DeepSeek, MiniMax, StepFun, Tencent, and ByteDance.
The chips are the part people underestimate. GLM-5 was trained entirely on Huawei Ascend silicon. DeepSeek's latest runs on domestic chips. Baidu brought a 30,000-chip cluster online with no Nvidia inside. Nvidia's China market share fell from 85% to 70% in a single year.
China's chips still trail the frontier, and it still buys Nvidia where it can. But it is building faster than any export control can contain. Every lab diversifying, every domestic chip shipped, every model trained on Huawei silicon is a step toward a stack no foreign letter can touch.
China didn't wait to be told. It decided years ago it would never be switched off, and it started building.
Every country watching this needs to make that same decision.
If you want to track where AI is actually heading, follow me.\n\nQT @AnthropicAI: The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
