what an unexpectedly insane day for chinese AI
deepseek raises at $50B val
then microsoft (openai’s biggest investor) announces it’s using deepseeks model for its flagship copilot ai
then Zhipu drops glm-5.2 which matches opus 4.8 and got 5.5 at top coding benchmarks
all open weight models btw. if you’re an american enterprise spending $10-100M+ a year on claude code/codex you have to at least be thinking about using these models
imagine wrapping these models in a cursor harness, performance would be very competitive.
very significant in light of recent government bans on fable too\n\nQT @Zai_org: Introducing GLM-5.2: Frontier Intelligence, Open Weights

Eve asks for even less. 𝚊𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚝/𝚒𝚗𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜.𝚖𝚍. Put some English in there and you’re good to go.

RT @jietang: We're introducing GLM-5.2, our latest flagship model for long-horizon tasks. It marks a substantial leap in long-horizon task capability over its predecessor GLM-5.1 and, for the first time, delivers that capability on a solid 1M-token context. GLM-5.2's new capabilities include:
Solid 1M Context: A solid 1M-token context that stably sustains long-horizon work Advanced Coding with Flexible Effort: Stronger coding capabilities with multiple thinking effort levels to balance performance and latency Improved Architecture: We propose IndexShare, which reuses the same indexer across every four sparse attention layers, reducing per-token FLOPs by 2.9× at a 1M context length. We also improve GLM-5.2’s MTP layer for speculative decoding, increasing the acceptance length by up to 20% Pure Open: An MIT open-source license — no regional limits, technical access without borders Supporting long-horizon tasks starts with making long context engineering-usable: the model must maintain quality across long, messy coding-agent trajectories, not just accept more tokens. A 1M context is easy to claim, but much harder to keep reliable under real engineering pressure. To this end, we substantially expanded 1M-context training for coding-agent scenarios, covering large-scale implementation, automated research, performance optimization, and complex debugging. The result is a long-context system that is not only wide in scope, but solid in execution: a practical substrate for sustained engineering work.
This capability is reflected in GLM-5.2's performance on three long-horizon coding benchmarks. FrontierSWE measures whether an agent can complete open-ended technical projects at the scale of hours to tens of hours, spanning systems optimization, large-scale code construction, and applied ML research. On this benchmark, GLM-5.2 trails Opus 4.8 by only 1%, while edging out GPT-5.5 by 1% and Opus 4.7 by 11%. On PostTrainBench, where each agent is given an H100 GPU and evaluated by how much it can improve small models through post-training, GLM-5.2 outperforms both Opus 4.7 and GPT-5.5, ranking second only to Opus 4.8. On SWE-Marathon, an ultra-long-horizon software engineering benchmark covering tasks such as building compilers, optimizing kernels, and developing production-grade services, GLM-5.2 still has room to grow, trailing Opus 4.8 by 13% while remaining second only to the Opus series. Across all three benchmarks, GLM-5.2 is the highest-ranked open-source model, showing that its 1M context has translated into practical long-horizon delivery capability.

The biggest change in this paper? For the first time, the AutoResearch Agent autonomously planned GPU experiments — and submitted actual RL runs on the DeepSeek 285B model.
The entire RL pipeline — experiment design, code writing, running, debugging, and conclusion summarization — was 100% automated, with zero human intervention from me. This was incredibly difficult, but an incredibly important step. https://t.co/kuZZNux5RH

If you need a website, this is the best website creator on the planet: Ploy by Bryant Chou
Drop everything and use this to improve your website now. A total redesign to your taste is at your fingertips. Try it with a side project and you'll bring it to your main project in 2 weeks or less, I predict.\n\nQT @bryantchou: AI is making marketers lazy.
So we made the website do the work instead. Today, we're launching @ployai: the all-in-one marketing platform that turns your website into your hardest working employee.
And we're coming out of stealth today with a $27M seed led by @ycombinator and @firstround.
I spent 12 years at Webflow as the founding CTO where I built the product, but also started our marketing and sales teams that drove our fastest periods of growth. That experience made one thing obvious: the website is the center of your business. And it's only more important in the age of AI.
Foundation model apps can generate assets. Point solutions can optimize pieces of the funnel.
But nothing runs the whole growth system: your site, brand, CMS, CRM, campaigns, analytics, SEO, AEO, and customer data all working together.
Until now.
Teams at @hex_tech and @clay_run, and growth agencies like Tonik and TNT Growth, are already powering sites on Ploy. Hex is generating on-brand ABM pages at scale, Clay is using its data to power a programmatic SEO engine, and TNT Growth is spinning up a landing page for each of their clients’ ads.
Wake up every morning with a report from Ploy - with what it did, and what it wants to do next. Approve it. Ship it. Or be lazy and just watch it cook.

Samsung is reportedly in talks with AMD to manufacture CPUs through its foundry business, with mass production expected in 2028.
LFG! https://t.co/6WxO1etdEv\n\nQT @jukan05: Samsung sees rising chip production requests from BYD, Google, AMD- Nikkei Asia
BYD, Google, AMD, Tesla and others are looking increasingly to Samsung Electronics for contract chipmaking services as surging demand for AI infrastructure strains the advanced chipmaking capacity of market leader TSMC, Nikkei Asia has learned.
Samsung has seen a surge in inquiries from existing and potential global customers, including those in China, looking to use its advanced chip manufacturing capacity, according to six people with knowledge of the matter.
BYD, China's top electric vehicle maker, has been in talks with Samsung about building future generations of autonomous driving chips, while Google is engaging with the South Korean company about potentially producing its next-generation Axion processors, set to launch around 2028, two people familiar with the matter told Nikkei Asia. Google is also considering asking Samsung to build part of its key Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) for AI computing workloads, as early as 2028, one of the people said.
"TSMC is prioritizing advanced-node production not only because it reinforces its tech leadership and long-term strategy, but also because those nodes are more profitable and remain in short supply," said an executive from a Chinese autochip designer, who asked not to be named. "Samsung's yields still lag behind TSMC's, but capacity availability has made it an increasingly attractive option."
Yield is the industry term for production quality, measured as the percentage of chips produced that meet the required specifications and performance.
TSMC, Samsung and Intel are the world's only chipmakers that can offer cutting-edge chip production at a large scale. TSMC has secured the majority of such orders, as well as orders for advanced chip packaging services, from the likes of Nvidia, Apple, AMD, Broadcom, Marvell and MediaTek. These clients take up a large share of the Taiwanese chipmaking group's advanced chipmaking capacity.
Intel, which mainly manufactures chips for in-house use, is working to attract more customers to adopt its advanced chipmaking and packaging capacity.
The Chinese auto industry executive said many chip designers in the country are now pursuing a dual-sourcing strategy, spreading orders between TSMC and Samsung rather than relying on a single foundry, with exact allocation depending on the product.
"Geopolitical factors also push some U.S. clients to use multiple contract chipmakers, if available out there, if they can," another chip industry executive with knowledge told Nikkei Asia.
"TSMC's advanced chip production capacity is really full, which is hard for Chinese clients who have smaller volumes to place new orders, so several have turned to approach Samsung for future possibilities," said an executive-level chip industry source who is familiar with the matter.
Google has been a driving force in the multi-foundry strategy, sources told Nikkei Asia. MediaTek, Taiwan's top chip developer, is helping Google to work with both TSMC and Intel for advanced chip packaging, Nikkei Asia earlier reported, while Qualcomm, the U.S. mobile chip king, has long made use of both TSMC's and Samsung's services.
However, using multiple foundries for advanced chip production requires substantial investment in adapting chip designs to different chipmakers' manufacturing processes, along with greater R&D and supply-chain coordination. Such a strategy is typically viable only for deep-pocketed chip developers, given the additional engineering and workforce costs involved.
Meanwhile, capacity constraints at TSMC are pushing other existing customers to potentially place more orders with Samsung, sources said.
Tesla works with both Samsung and TSMC on various products, including its AI5 chips used in its cars and robots. The upcoming AI6, however, will be made by Samsung in Texas. Tesla founder Elon Musk also announced a partnership with Intel for its future terafab projects in Texas, aiming to bring more critical chip production back to the U.S. and help meet growing demand.
AMD and Nvidia, key clients of TSMC, are also working with Samsung on some chip projects due to capacity constraints. AMD, for example, is in talks to build some future CPUs with Samsung from 2028, one source with knowledge of the situation said.
Nvidia's Groq language processing units (LPUs) are produced by Samsung, and the U.S. chipmaker has not decided whether production of the next generation of these highly specialized chips will be given to other contract chipmakers. The majority of Nvidia's chips are made exclusively by TSMC.
The increasing requests for leading-edge chip production for Samsung would mark a victory for the South Korean chipmaker's foundry business, which used to mainly serve its own consumer electronics and home appliance divisions.
The growing foundry business comes as Samsung is also riding the AI investment boom, enjoying exponentially growing demand for its memory products, including high-bandwidth memory chips, DRAM and NAND flash memories.
Samsung said that it does not comment on customers.
New orders would help Samsung's foundry unit rebound from a recent downturn. The company said earnings for the segment declined in the first quarter due to it being the off-peak season, but it did not elaborate on how big the dip was.
Samsung's foundry and system large-scale integration business units posted a combined 6.9 trillion won ($4.6 billion) in sales in the first quarter, up from 6 trillion won a year ago. Samsung does not break down its earnings for the two units, the latter of which makes an array of logic and analog chips, including image sensors and display chips.
BYD declined to comment. Google said it does not comment on the details of its supply chain.

This new AI model can keep listening while it responds 🤯
Most AI has a fundamental flaw.
It listens. Then it stops listening. Then it responds. Then it listens again.
That stop-start loop is why talking to AI still feels unnatural. The model goes blind the moment it opens its mouth.
MaineCoon breaks that pattern. It’s the first real-time audio-visual model that keeps perceiving while it’s responding. Voice, image, and video held in one continuous streaming context.
- 22B parameter model

I remember when Cursor first launched, many people mocked it as “just a VS Code fork” that could never compete with VS Code + GitHub Copilot.
I switched to Cursor early simply because its code suggestions were better and the "Tab" experience felt smoother this was before agents even existed.
I’ve used it ever since and never felt the need to switch back.
A great reminder: focus on solving real user problems, not on people saying, “This already exists.”
Ship. Test the market. Iterate. Let the results speak.
Congrats to the Cursor team, you proved them wrong. 👏\n\nQT @cgtwts: SpaceX just acquired Cursor for $60B
